Watch out - Wyatt's
about
On most occasions, at
Laurel and Hardy conventions, whenever you see Dave
Wyatt he is behind a movie camera, capturing all
our precious memories for us to enjoy again and
again.
Well, now it's our turn to
provide some memories for Dave. Please go through
your collections and send me any photos you have of
him in front of the camera. Please give basic
details about each photo, such as when it was
taken, where it was taken and who is in the
photo.
All the photos will be
displayed in an online gallery on http://www.stan
laurelandoliverhardy.com and then, at a later date,
will be presented to Dave on a CD in slide show
format.
Send your photos to
stanandolly@aol.com,
titling your e-mail "Dave's Archive".

Thanks
The unveiling of the
statue in Ulverston was a complete success. Thanks
to the town of Ulverston for making us all welcome.
Thanks also to Eric Woods for all his hard work on
behalf of the Sons in bringing this project to its
wonderful conclusion.
Also a special "Well done"
to Marion Grave for getting the museum up and
running - it is well set out and very informative.
Thanks, Marion, and everyone involved. To sum it
up. . . it was a "Perfect Day".

Saps present
Dave
The Saps at Sea Tent had
previously arranged for Dave Wyatt to come to
Southend for its meeting in June. Due to the fact
that Dave is in the "County Hospital", the Saps
have arranged an alternative "Special".
Sunday 14th June will be
The Dave Wyatt Fun Evening. The Saps will be
delighted to present some rare and unusual Laurel
and Hardy footage and other comedy rarities that
Dave has shared with the Saps. We will also be
screening some footage when Dave has been caught on
camera sharing his knowledge and sense of fun.
Proceeds from our raffle will be donated to the
Dave Wyatt Fire Fund. We know that Dave is
recovering and look forward to seeing him as soon
as possible in Southend.

Horse
sense
In the 1.45pm race at
Chester on 8th May I was told by a friend that a
horse called Mister Hardy was running. I backed it
- he won and I collected £300. Happy
days.

Soccer
tribute
Bob Hickson tells us that
on 10th May at the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford
inflatable figures went round the grounds to the
tune of KuKu. The crowd of 75,000
appreciated the tune.

Laurel and
Hardy play in London
Following the
fantastic reception given to the 2008 tour
of Tom McGrath's play Laurel and
Hardy, performances are scheduled at
the Jermyn Street Theatre, which is just
off Piccadilly Circus in central London.
Actors Neil Bromley (Stan Laurel) and
Simon Lloyd (Oliver Hardy) appealed to
"angels" to donate funds for the West End
showcase. Donations of between £100
and £1000 have enabled this
production to go ahead.
The production
opens at the Jermyn Street Theatre on 1st
July and will play until 18th July.
Tickets are £17 (full) and £14
(concession), available from the theatre
on 020 7287 2875.

Blockheads'
birthday
The Blockheads Tent will be celebrating its 25th
anniversary on Sunday, 7th June at its usual venue.
There will be a buffet, films etc and the cost will
be £10 to cover the buffet plus a few extra
treats. This option has been chosen rather than a
meal in a restaurant as it will be lighter on the
pocket. Charlie
Lewis says, "We shall need to give the girls an
indication of numbers and payment will be in
advance so I would ask that if you intend to come
along please confirm with me and reserve your place
with cash or a cheque."
